Naza-M Lite Review

Naza-M Lite
Product Review

Naza-M Lite is a multirotor gyro system with GPS module. It is a light weight multi-axis control platform specially designed for aeromodel hobbyists. It is a small all-in-one module that has D-Bus support, upgrade support and extendible port.

Being able to carry heavy payloads and aero photography, Naza offers outstanding flight stability and excellent maneuverability that gives hobbyists wonderful flight experience.

After the Naza-M V1 has been discontinued in 2013, it was replaced with Naza-M V2. The new version included additional extendability and it was more expensive. To fill the gap and offer users an entry level version, DJI launched the Naza-M Lite. The new device is basically the same as the Naza-M V1, only that it cannot be extended with fancy gadgets like PMU (Power Management Unit / BEC), Zenmuse Camera Gimbal, iOSD On Screen Display unit or Ground Station Data Link.

The low price for the Naza-M Lite makes it a real bargain, especially if you don't need the extra fancy additions. It's a very accurate device, offering the same stability and GPS Auto Hovering as the Naza-M V2. The installation is not too complex, though for setting up the transmitter you'll probably need the manual.

The Naza-M Lite box does it all. For enthusiastic starters, this is the most cost-effective flight control system. It inherits the high reliability and stability of NAZA-M V2 and the innovative all-in-one design simplifies installation and saves space and weight. It contains inner damping, controllers, 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer and barometer. Measuring altitude during flight and with its great maneuverability, it can be used for autopilot/automatic control.

Naza-M Lite offers three types of control modes: GPS, Altitude or Manual. The pilot can switch between the three modes to achieve different flight characteristics.

GPS mode will improve the performance of aerial photography with Position Hold, Return-To-Home and Intelligent Orientation Control. With the GPS Module, the multi rotors will have the position and altitude locked in case of windy conditions. The precise hovering in less than 2.5m horizontal and and 0.8m vertical.

One of its great features is the Course Lock. When the drone hovers forward in normal 12 o'clock direction and you switch to Course Lock mode, it will remember where you stand, regardless of where the drone is pointing at. You can still control the drone just by standing behind it. This is a good solution for users who mix up headings.

The Naza controller has a built-in Fail-Safe feature which is useful in case the communication between MC and transmitter is disconnected. Also, for improved safety it has two levels of battery voltage warning, to prevent your multi-rotor from crash or other harmful consequences caused by low battery voltage.

Naza-M Lite supports 6 types of multi-rotors. In addition, the gimbal stabilization module is compatible with almost all 2-axis gimbal systems. The system will adjust the gimbal and camera according to the attitude of the helicopter after setting the parameters the first time.

The Naza-M Lite Gyro is easy to assemble on any drone, though attaching the transmitter can be a bit problematic. Together with the low price, the Naza is a real great deal.
